Better occupational guidance for adolescents

F.l.t.r.: Hand-over of the donation with Sabrina Muhlack (HR officer), Oliver Weirich (CFO), Alexander Schüler from the Johann-Textor-School, Marc Rieser (CEO) and the two pupils

A German proverb says that the future belongs to those who win over the young people.

For us as a training company, this also involves the socio-political responsibility to support young people in their choice of occupation because today’s variety of occupational opportunities is quite overwhelming. For the generation Z this is both a blessing and a curse: They have to find their way in this maze and decide on their strengths and interests.

In order to make this a little easier, the Johann-Textor-Schule in Haiger initiated the project “Schule plus” already in the year 2021/22: This is a dual project in which training companies in the Haiger region cooperate with the school and give pupils an insight into the training courses once a week after school. The special thing about this project is the fact that the adolescents can get a taste of one or more vocational trainings over a longer period of time and at the same time familiarise with the working environment and their future colleagues. In its third year, the project “Schule plus” offers guidance to about 120 pupils.

It goes without saying that such a project does not only depend upon the commitment of the teachers and the willingness of the training companies but also requires financial support. Accordingly, donations are used to finance a bus for the transportation of the pupils, for example. In our region, such good ideas often fail due to a poorly developed public transport system. With our Christmas donation, we would like to pave the way for the adolescents.
