VETTER has installed two new ErgoLine® workstation crane systems at the Alsatian company Liebherr-Mining Equipment Colmar SAS. Components weighing up to a maximum of 1,000 kg arrive in the so-called unpacking zone, whereby the ErgoLine® system is used for unit weights up to a maximum of 250 kg. Shortly after the market launch of the new crane system, the project managers from Liebherr came to us to test the suitability of the smooth-running system at the Haiger crane factory. After an extensive test, Frédéric Varain, project manager at Liebherr, quickly realised:

‘This is exactly the kind of workstation crane system that we can use to efficiently speed up material handling in the unpacking zone and significantly improve ergonomics on the conveyor belts.’

With our flexible, modular crane system, we have solved all the tasks: In order to ensure the necessary stability of the main gantry over the rather long distance of almost 10 metres, the supports and beams are made of steel. A gimbal-mounted ErgoLine® crane bridge, also made of aluminium, runs on each of the aluminium runways suspended from them in pairs. The steel supports themselves could be positioned very close to the conveyor belts. This ensures full coverage of the workstations with maximum corridor clearance inside and outside the work area. The system is not at all fixed - thanks to its modular design and versatile components, ErgoLine® is not only easy to expand, but can also be subsequently adapted to any changes in production layouts.

Above all, however, the system designed in this way impresses with its enormous ease of movement. This also immediately impressed the employees at Liebherr; they enjoy using the cranes and report consistently positive feedback. Those responsible at Liebherr are also satisfied, because if the acceptance among employees is high, a big step towards ergonomics and work safety has been taken.
